Two years ago, I was first introduced to USANA products by my chiropractic doctor, Dr. Troy Spurrill—himself a Ruby Director in the USANA business currently—who is the CEO and Clinical Director of the SYNAPSE Health Clinics, located in Eagan , Minnesota , . I had been sent to see Dr. Troy, considered by other chiropractors to be a “lost cause” case. So many of my body systems were breaking down and nonfunctional by that time that most medical doctors had also written me off and were busy throwing medications at all of my symptoms and hoping for the best for me. Life itself was characterized by constant unrelenting pain everywhere in my body and crushing fatigue which kept me only halfway alert and conscious to my surroundings most of the time. I was unable to go visit friends, attend church, or be out of bed much at all to spend quality time with my family. Life for me was one big struggle each and every day to make it from morning to evening and derive any pleasure whatsoever out of my day. What social life I had was online only, during the brief two to 3 hours each day I could muster up enough strength to crawl out of bed to log on to my computer.
Clinically speaking, I was a real mess. I was on 22 different medications and was taking pills to get me through every hour of every day. My legs were so swollen I had to keep them elevated and keep them wrapped with ace bandages to keep the fluid from accumulating in them due to severe peripheral edema and pain. Due to the pain and edema, I had to stay in bed most of the time. After having had a classic clinical onset of Fibromyalgia at age 19 following hospitalization with the Russian Flu, I became fully debilitated with severe intractable, unrelenting, generalized pain and chronic fatigueand was taking 22 different medications prescribed for me by my family doctor--including narcotic pain medication to help ease my pain. I was bedridden and so weak that I could not tolerate being out of bed for more than ten minutes at a time. I had high blood pressure and a non-functional thyroid gland. I had chronic gastro-esophageal reflux disorder and severe sleep apnea, which means I would stop breathing at night while I slept. Every night I went to bed wondering if I would wake up the next morning. I was 200 pounds overweight, weighing in at a whopping 370 pounds. I was not digesting or processing foods that I ate well at all. Every time I ate a meal, I was assaulted by severe abdominal pain and cramping, accompanied by diarrhea for hours, following routine meals with my family.
I had to give up my life long dream of being a nurse, after having worked hard in college for 6 years to earn my Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. I stuck to my guns and worked as a nurse anyways, despite incredible pain and fatigue for 30 years despite my debility. But I became more and more ineffective as an oncology nurse, less and less able to safely care for the cancer and hospice patients in my charge. I started to have lapses of short term memory, as neurological damage was setting in and I began having changes in my ability to walk and stand and I would lose my balance, sometimes falling over in front of patients and their family members unable to maintain my balance. I would pickup every germ I came into contact with and missed work so often that I lost many jobs due to poor attendance alone. In many aspects of my life, I felt myself a failure and life totally out of control and hopeless!
Thankfully, shortly after being put on disability, I was directed by another chiropractic doctor, who honestly did not know how to help me any further, to go see Dr. Troy Spurrill of the SYNAPSE Clinic in Eagan, Minnesota as a last ditch effort to somehow get some treatment that might actually help me. I praise God every day for that momentous event because it started me on a path to wholeness that I could never have achieved otherwise! I now take USANA supplements every day just to maintain my good health.

For our family, these products have been a God-send! My husband Steve feels like a kid again at age 50!!! The difference we feel in terms of energy and well-being every day that we receive from using these products just cannot be emphasized enough!!! As a family, we have not really come down with a cold or a flu virus in well over 4 years!!! Our blood work comes back "squeaky clean" with every physical we have. We believe that USANA nutritionals contribute to our phenomenal health and that without them, we would be in a much different place with our health.
In addition, our USANA business is definately a "family affair"!! Today, myself and my husband of 27 years are leading a happy, healthy, active lifestyle, working hard on developing our thriving USANA business together with both of our grown sons--Christopher age 27 and Daniel age 21. Together we work on collaboration and training. We enjoy practicing good health by having healthy, nutritious meals together and going to the gym together to work out every day. We encourage one another when we hit health challenges and support one another in overcoming those challenges. We also go out in the evenings as a team to share this life changing opportunity with other families. My husband plans to retire from his corporate job of 30 years by the spring of 2011, thanks once again to USANA!! My husband Steve and I look forward to a bright future enjoying our "golden retirement years"--celebrating our good health, financial freedom and being able to be full-time grandparents, able to be there to watch our grandchildren grow up and become USANA Associates--part of the "Hill Family Team" also some day!!!
I find myself approaching my goal weight loss of 200 pounds slowly but surely, and am enjoying each and every day as a gift from God himself! My husband and I build our now thriving USANA business at home with our extended family and truly enjoy sharing the message of USANA, helping others to change their lives one day at a time!
